What It Does

Dr. Kevin Passero formulated Durable VISION because clinical doses of the unique antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin have been proven to keep your vision clear as you age while protecting your macular—the light-sensing part of the eye responsible for central vision.*

While many inferior products contain generic versions of lutein and zeaxanthin that often lack purity and potency, Durable VISION uses the well-researched, propriety ingredients FloraGLO® lutein and OptiSharp™ zeaxanthin for maximum purity and effectiveness.*

• Supports a healthy macula, retina and lens*
• Promotes clear vision and glare recovery (important for night driving)*
• Protects eyes against damaging blue and UV light*
• Helps reduce eyestrain and screen fatigue*
• Just one small softgel per day*

Why It Works

According to Dr. Passero, macular issues are the leading cause of age-related vision decline. Oxidative stress from UV light from the sun, blood sugar imbalances, environmental toxins, poor lifestyle choices and lack of sleep are all major factors related to declining vision. And today, there’s a new threat to eye health that affects people of all ages.*

Blue Light: How Increased Screen Time Puts Your Vision at Risk
Emerging research is showing that the blue light our digital devices emit may be just as harmful as UV rays from the sun—and can compound age-related declines in vision.*

Blue light exposure can make it difficult for our eyes to focus and can lead to poor glare recovery (the reason many people struggle with nighttime driving), reduced overall visual performance, eyestrain, fatigue and headaches.*

What’s more, research suggests that exposure to blue light creates free radicals that can damage the macula, the light-sensing central part of the retina that is essential for tasks like reading and driving.*

Lutein & Zeaxanthin Offer Clinically Proven Eye Health Protection
Two unique antioxidant carotenoids—lutein and zeaxanthin—were shown in AREDS2, a groundbreaking, large-scale eye health study, to help slow the progression of age-related macular concerns.*

These powerful free radical-neutralizing antioxidants cross the blood-retina barrier and accumulate in the eyes where they absorb damaging blue and UV light, forming a protective shield in front of the light-sensitive cells of the macula, retina and lens.*

In another important study, researchers found that the combination of 10 mg of lutein and 2 mg of zeaxanthin taken daily for six months boosted macular pigment ocular density (MPOD), a measure of macular health, by 39% and significantly increased glare recovery and visual performance.*

Featuring 10 mg of FloraGLO® lutein and 2 mg of OptiSharp™ zeaxanthin, Durable VISION provides the precise doses of these powerful antioxidants shown in the research to promote effective long-term support for healthy vision. In fact, FloraGLO® and OptiSharp™ are so well researched that combined they have been proven in well over 100 human clinical studies.*

Beware of inferior supplements that use sub-clinical doses of lutein and zeaxanthin in their generic forms that have questionable purity and effectiveness.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dr. Kevin Passero Answers

Functional medicine expert, licensed naturopathic physician
and Durable co-founder Dr. Kevin Passero answers your top questions.

Can I get lutein and zeaxanthin from food?

While lutein and zeaxanthin are naturally occurring carotenoids found in foods like leafy greens, other deeply-colored fruits and vegetables and egg yolks, it’s difficult (if not impossible) to get the 10 mg of lutein and 2 mg of zeaxanthin shown in the studies to offer the most effective support for healthy vision. Most people only get about 10% of what they need from diet alone. Therefore, supplementation—in addition to a healthy diet—is needed to provide the protection your eyes need.*

How long will it take to see the effects?

Like most nutritional supplements, Durable VISION will take time and consistent use to build up in your system in order to achieve maximum effectiveness.*

With continuous daily use, you can expect to see results within several months as lutein and zeaxanthin accumulate in your eyes to provide blue light protection and antioxidant support.*

What is blue light?

All light is made up of wavelengths that occur on a spectrum of energy. Towards the beginning of the visible spectrum is red light, made up of low energy waves. This light is easy on our eyes, especially at night. Blue and UV light are at the highest end of the visible spectrum and are tiring for our eyes to process.*

We are exposed to UV light from the sun every day, and the cumulative effect of this exposure can damage the front of our eyes, the cornea and the lens. However, the cornea and the lens are very effective at blocking UV rays; less than 1% of UV radiation from the sun reaches the retina (where the macula is located).*

Blue light, however, is different. It is part of the visible spectrum and reaches far deeper into the eye, as far as the retina. Nearly all visible blue light passes through the lens and cornea to the retina and macula.*

In natural settings, blue light isn’t a problem. But when artificial blue light is concentrated in a digital device’s screen, the intensity and proximity can put our eyes at risk.*

Blue light “scatters” easily, which makes it difficult for our eyes to focus on it. This is one reason you might experience eyestrain, fatigue or headaches after long hours at the computer.*

In addition, research suggests that long term exposure to blue light may be just as harmful to the macula as UV rays from the sun. Blue light has been shown to damage the retina and trigger the damage thought to be the root cause of macular concerns.*

Can’t I just wear blue light blocking glasses?

There are a variety of blue light blocking glasses as well as blue light filtering screens for computers and phones available now that blue light is widely recognized as a threat to healthy vision. These may help reduce your exposure, but they stop working the moment you take them off.*

Lutein and zeaxanthin work from the inside out, effectively creating built-in blue light blockers in your eyes. And they work around-the-clock to offer antioxidant support for your eyes.*

Are there any side effects?

Studies have not shown any significant known side effects associated with taking lutein or zeaxanthin. However, pregnant or nursing women should consult with their healthcare provider prior to any use.*
